Full-TimeOverviewLocated in Melville, NY, Canon USA has an exciting opportunity to support the Product Safety Manager to ensure product safety regulatory compliance for our products sold in Latin America countries.
You will utilize your knowledge of product safety compliance regulations to ensure compliance with country specific standards for equipment Type Approvals.
Your technical knowledge combined with providing administrative support, this job includes reviewing technical reports for information you will use to complete applications/forms.
We can train you on the process, but you will need to have a technical background to understand the product specs and regulations.
Responsibilities- Assist with Type Approval applications for Canon products required to optimize the sale of the products in a particular foreign market- Responsible for effective and efficient approval tracking with regulators- Verify application fees, model names, and enter information in the Type Approval applications- Process certificate invoices in Oracle and coordinate with CUSA A/P for payment verification, follow up and code invoices in Oracle system- Request CUSA AP for proof of payment to notify regulators to release the certificates- Manage Generic Mail box used to send Type Approval applications and assist regulators with their inquiries, resolve problems, complaints, investigate and process Type Approval applications fees, and obtain in-country regulations updates- May be required to investigate current standards in Compliance Regulations for each market where Canon intends to operate- Assist with review and maintain files of regulatory compliance documents for all Canon products on which regulations mandates Type Approval (homologation) for equipment that is connected to the Public switched network (e.
g.
Fax), using the radio spectrum (e.
g.
Wi-Fi), causing or affected by Electromagnetic energy.
(e.
g.
EMC), potentially hazard to the end user (e.
g.
Electrical Safety)- Support the administration of product safety and EMC compliance programs including review, confirmation of certification, declaration, products registration, maintenance and record keeping- Provide information & consultation to supervisor for inquiries & requests related to product safety- Assist in the development, maintenance and update of internal policy, procedure and program(s) for regulatory compliance- Perform product safety data entry into the S21 system on a daily basis to ensure items are ready for export Qualifications- Bachelor degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required plus 0-2 years of related experience.
Prefer Bachelors Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Associates Degree with related experience in Environmental Sciences and/or Copier Service support business.
- Knowledge of product safety and/or EMC such as FCC, FDA, and UL policies is helpful- Knowledge of Printing Business helpful- Proficiency with MicrosoftExcel (advanced level), PowerPoint and Word required- Strong presentation skills a plus- Bilingual in Spanish is required (technical terminology).
