INVESTIGATIVE SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Conducts preliminary and general investigative research on entities and persons of interest within local, state, and federal government databases and commercial databases. Researches, analyzes, interprets, and evaluates investigative and administrative data to support complex criminal investigations and enhance procedures. Enters and uploads pertinent information and adjudicative actions into the Case Management System (CMS).Receives, records, tracks, and organizes investigative documents, evidence, and confidential information. Ensures criminal history disposition documents and forms are accurate, complete, and promptly uploaded into the CMS, and forwarded to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The incumbent supports investigative operations by handling critical responsibilities such as:
Grand Jury Coordinator:
Ensures all grand jury protocols and documentation procedures are followed. IG Subpoena Coordinator:
Processes and tracks IG subpoena submissions within the DoD OIG, responds to IG subpoenas from recipients, and provides information in response to IG subpoenas. Prepares inventories of received information and coordinates the storage and disposal of subpoenaed information. Evidence and Emergency & Extraordinary (E&E) Funds Custodian:
Serves as the primary or alternate evidence custodian for the office. Handles E&E funds for the office. Prepares and submits proper documentation in accordance with DCIS policy. Search Warrant Support:
Assists agents with search warrant planning and post-warrant activities. Prepares seized item inventories, tracks items removed from search sites, and coordinates the return of seized items. Consensual Monitoring Requests:
Tracks the expiration and renewal of office consensual monitoring requests. Undercover Operation Renewals:
Tracks the submission and renewal of office undercover operations. Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR:
To qualify for this position, you MUST have experience using Law Enforcement Administrative databases and Law Enforcement Case Management systems. Applicants MUST demonstrate meeting the specialized experience and selective placement factor in their resumes to meet minimum qualifications for the position. GS-07 Specialized
Experience:
You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-05 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience includes providing administrative support to office staff using interpersonal communication, in person and telephonically; establishing and maintaining office files; using office computer software programs, including Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of, and skill in applying analytical, investigative, problem solving and case management concepts, principles, methodologies and practices to detect illegal activity and support or assist with complex criminal investigations, compliance inspections and other law enforcement activities. The position requires knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures associated with federal law enforcement operations and investigations. OR 1 full year of graduate level education; OR superior academic achievement OR A combination of education and experience as listed above. GS-09 Specialized
Experience:
You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-07 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience is experience that includes knowledge of, and skill in applying analytical, investigative, problem solving and case management concepts, principles, methodologies and practices to detect illegal activity and support and conduct complex criminal investigations, compliance inspections and other law enforcement activities. The position requires knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures associated with federal law enforcement operations and investigations. Or If you are using Education to qualify for this position, a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D. Or A combination of education and experience as listed above. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
