About the Position


This is a position in Pressure Regulation that will support the growing Process Safety inititatives within Gas Network Strategy. This position requires a person with a strong background in instrumentation, contols, and Process Safety. A minimum of three (3) years relevant engineering experience is required. This engineering position will be responsible for:



  • Coordination of Gas Engineering and Gas Asset Management process safety reviews

  • Maintenance of the GSE/GAM Competency matrix

  • Development and implementation of a GSE/GAM MOC (Management of Change) process

  • Implementation of SIS/SIL register for gas equipment US wide for heaters, boilers, and other control equipment at Pressure Regulating and CNG stations

  • Assist in conducting Bi-weekly Engineering meetings

  • Coordination of Process Safety engineering reviews such as HAZOPs, LOPAs, QRAs for specific engineering projects

  • Review of PHA, LOPA, QRA, HAZID, HAZOP studies and follow up with individual engineers to ensure that action items are implementation

  • Management of Process Safety Action Item data base

  • Management of Process Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and implementation

  • Conducting Process Safety reviews during periodic field visits

  • Annual review and inspection of each facility and coordination of the field work associated with calibration and end to end checking of Safety Instrumented Systems as well as Base Process Controllers (BPCs).

  • Decision and support role for resolution of process safety concerns and assurance that critical gas assets meet and exceed the corporate standards for individual and societal risk.

  • Assisting in making policy and setting standards for the design ofequipment to meet ISA 84 and IEC 61511 standards

  • Coordination with L&D to implement business specific training on Risk Control Standards

  • Administration of the US System Automation program; selection of projects based on risk reduction using the System Automation risk ranking tools and databases.



Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience Required:



  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology from an ABET accredited engineering school. Professional experience will determine appropriate engineering position.

  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant engineering experience

  • Knowledge of relevant industry practice, standards and legislation.

  • Knowledge of current trends within the industry and developments in legislation or regulation.

  • Knowledge of National Grid's business operations, company policies and practices.

  • Preferred knowledge of instrumentation and controls with expertise in Process Safety ie; HAZOP, PHA, LOPA, QRA.

  • Preferred knowledge of relevant industry experience in process control and instrumentation

  • Preferred knowledge of IEC 61511, ISA 84,ISA 85, ISA 86, ISA 87

  • Must have a valid driver's license with safe driving history.
