Overview:
The Manager of Codes, Standards & Compliance supports the assigned Leviton business units with implementing product certification, and standards policies and procedures primarily focused on Battery Energy Storage and Solar (BESS) (Photovoltaic) Systems within the Corporate Agency Approvals group.
Accountable for ensuring that all approvals activities are in line with company goals and objectives.
May be assigned to a special project focused on beneficial electrification including but not limited to batteries, photovoltaics, generators, and load centers.
This position can work based on a hybrid work schedule out of Melville, NY, NOLA, or Southern California.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for assigned certification categories and standards documents Participates in standards committee work with all agencies, NEMA, NFPA and others as assigned.
Will also be directly responsible for creating proposals and rebuttal of others Evaluates competitive offerings to provide insights on new product development Understands required test programs and requirements Represents Leviton at industry meetings (i.
e.
, UL, CSA, NEMA, and CANENA) Effectively work with Standards organizations developing, interpreting, and defining product safety requirements Interfaces with all internal departments, development partners and with various standards organizations Provides in depth interpretation of standards and test requirements for new and existing products Conducts individual Approvals jobs, oversees progress, and manages expectations Selects and recommends cost effective alternatives to various agencies Handles low and medium complexity appeals Takes a visible position on NEMA and other Technical Committee's; seek membership and assignments where benefit to Leviton is possible Seeks nomination and serves on National Electrical Code and California Electric Commission Panels Engages UL & CSA line management regularly and outlines Leviton positions such as timeliness, cost, etc.
Understands, documents, and trains personnel on relevant codes and standards Collects, documents, and maintains a comprehensive database of AHJ requirements in regions of importance to the business
Qualifications:
Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships including but not limited to AHJs, Code and Standards making bodies, NRTLs, and all Leviton resources Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational and planning skills Must be well versed in all Microsoft products including Teams, Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Notes Must be both business and technical savvy Willingness to be both an individual contributor and team member working in a fast-paced environment Education &
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required, Master's desirable (MS, MBA) Comprehensive understanding of UL 1973, UL 9540, and UL 9540A regarding new battery chemistries and technologies required In depth knowledge of CEC Title 24/26.

Home Requirements 6 years experience in Product Certifications preferably at a NRTL Working knowledge of worldwide Approvals processes Working knowledge of the Code making process including rules, regulations and by laws Experience writing reports and business correspondence Experience presenting to small and large groups of people Travel:
